- Download the prebuilt binary for your platform from the release page
- Add to `claude_desktop_config.json`: `{ "mcpServers": { "codebase-memory": { "command": "/path/to/codebase-memory", "args": ["--db", "/path/to/db"] } } }`
- Index a repository with the `index` tool, then query with natural language
Cursor
- Register the binary via `cursor mcp add` with the same arguments as above
Known issues & workarounds
⚠︎ First index takes a while on huge monorepos
Pass a narrower working directory or filter by language; the knowledge graph persists across sessions so the cost is paid once.
